I have chosen the Digipak to Katy Perry's "Teenage dream" to analyse because it fits within the genre of Pop, as this is the genre I have chosen to create my music video. Pop music is essentially "Popular Music" this usually refers to the singles chart, Pop Icons such as Katy Perry represent themselves and their music to fit into this genre and stereotype.
As you can see, the cover itself is very bright and playful, the typography is bold and juicy - much like sweets and candy. This is a running theme throughout the digipak as you can see both of the cds within the digipak are sweet related, a donut and lollipop. The delicious colours contrast with each other to make it appealing. The "Teenage dream" font is similar to a candy cane, reflecting childhood and how at a younger age you would eat sweets hence teenage dream. The "teenage dream" is visualised by presenting Katy Perry laid on a fluffy pink cloud which looks like candy floss, she is naked and bare showing off her California skin and painted face. Her bare nakedness could refer back to the teenage dream, of her re-living her younger years. It could also be viewed sexually - "The male gaze" (Laura Mulvey) This is where a certain piece of media is viewed from the perspective of a heterosexual male, this making the piece of media visually pleasurable; this in relation to Katy lying on the pink cloud, emphasis on her toned skin and facial features. She is the main focus within the digipak, surrounded by delicious treats (e.g - cakes) she is presented luring and sweet making it almost seductive (especially to males).
