Looking specifically at music related advertising, many artists/bands new albums are promoted/advertised on front covers of magazines or in pages inside or as posters advertised on websites.
Here are some examples of adverts i have found relating to the pop genre:
All of these pop adverts are very bold and attractive for the audience to look at, typically adverts use this technique of bold colours to draw an audience in and gather their attention. Most if not all adverts have the star image/product they are promoting/trying to sell as the main attraction, in these cases it is Katy Perry, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj that are on the front of their adverts. Attracting a male audience, with Laura Mulvey's 'Male Gaze' theory, Katy could be perceived as being quite sexual given her pose of leaning forward pushing out her chest and tight, flesh revealing clothing which shows off her figure.
Looking at the conventions of both an advert and some example of pop adverts which are already out there, this gives me an idea of some of the things which i need to include in order to attract and audience to our product/album, and promote the artist successfully.
The main things which should be taken noted of are: Star image, continuity of theme, attractive images, large font of the artist's name. All of these can be found within all the above adverts.
