Dear Moderator

Dear Moderator,
For my A2 coursework I have worked individually to construct a promotional package including a music video, magazine advertisement and digipack. I have chosen the song 'I Love It' by the swedish pop duo Icona Pop. To direct you around my blog efficiently I have placed tabs at the top of the page for each individual section which includes research, planning & construction, final products and evaluation, each of these pages will direct you to links of relevant posts.
I hope you enjoy my final products and can view my journey through these stages.

(Important message: When viewing my glogster posts which are mainly within research and planning, please use alternative browser than google chrome as it does not seem to work on their anymore. Works fine on internet explorer).

Shot Count / Music Video Analysis (Paramore - Still Into You)

I chose this music video to analyse because it fits well with the conventions and themes of a stereotypical pop video but also i think challenges them, how an American rock band can still create a successful pop video and still make it their own, without loosing their image and originality. Hayley still manages to get across her loud personality through the video whether its due to her two-toned orange/pink hair or her rock dance moves. I like how her personality is brought through in this video, i plan to try and incorporate this idea into our music video and try and get across to the audience the personalities of the people in our music video.

As this music video is fast paced, this is reflected through the amount of shots the video has. In total i counted 151 shots (give or take). Therefore this shows within the pop genre, there is a large amount of shots to keep up with the style of the music and to keep an audience interested.

Paramore 'Still Into You'

The video opens with a closing in shot of the band, moving from a close up of blue/white/green pastel shaded balloons. As the shot moves up, we see the band on a boat; we then assume the balloons are supposed to represent the sea. Hayley and the band are positioned still looking directly towards the camera as it zooms in. The words ‘STILL’ ‘INTO’ ‘YOU’ flash with numerous pastel colours onto the screen one after the other. The text is in capitals to emphasize the importance of these words. We then are shown Hayley laid in a pastel coloured bedroom, filled with cakes, which could represent her sweet innocent self, along with her choice of pink shades of clothing.

The close ups of Hayley show of her natural beauty in almost an innocent way because of her childish clothing and she is not being provocative in her movements or appearance. There are a number of fun

close up cuts of Hayley as she dances around. There is no real story structure narrative to this music video, it just shows a number of fun, lighthearted shots of the band riding through a large open plan house on bikes, suggesting they want to relive their youth with the camera mainly focusing on Hayley with medium close ups. The video progresses to show the entire band, dancing happily along with each other, as there are many different coloured flashing lights, which reflects their positive mood. The video itself allows the audience to embrace the positivity and lighthearted fun, this is entertaining to watch and makes the song catchier and therefore fits into the genre of Pop.

Hayley, the front woman of the band is young, lively and pretty this could appeal to teenage girls because she isn’t a generic stereotypical pop icon, she is alternative both in style and music known for her bright orange edgy hair and rock music. This shows to her fans and audience that she is challenging the stereotypical conventions of pop, being a role model to young female teenagers to express themselves through appearance and music and experiment with the ‘norm’ of society. Half way through the video, uniformed white ballerinas enclose Hayley, whilst they are synchronized dancing around her she appears to be doing her own thing, dancing to her tune and due to her clothing and behavior which could be a representation of her personality and originality, wanting to ‘stand out’ from the crowd. The music video ends with a bang, literally. The whole band are having fun outside at night, watching the fireworks as they explode for the camera, which further promotes the positive/fun attitudes of the band. The music video in total has 151 shots and is a quite fast paced video fitting well with the upbeat atmosphere.
