Dear Moderator

Dear Moderator,
For my A2 coursework I have worked individually to construct a promotional package including a music video, magazine advertisement and digipack. I have chosen the song 'I Love It' by the swedish pop duo Icona Pop. To direct you around my blog efficiently I have placed tabs at the top of the page for each individual section which includes research, planning & construction, final products and evaluation, each of these pages will direct you to links of relevant posts.
I hope you enjoy my final products and can view my journey through these stages.

(Important message: When viewing my glogster posts which are mainly within research and planning, please use alternative browser than google chrome as it does not seem to work on their anymore. Works fine on internet explorer).

Photoshop 'Opie' Tutorial

Making a Opie portrait.

As for part of our portfolio project we are required to make a digipak and an advert, the purpose of this task was to try and develop our skills on adobe photoshop. Reflecting on the outcome of my design, i will not be using this particular theme/design for my album artwork as i found it very difficult to do and my outcome was not of a high standard.

This Opie design was created by the artist Julian Opie, who made the album artwork to Blur's 2000 greatest hits. We had a go at creating our own portrait which would be an extermination using photoshop to not only improve our skills but to begin to consider and think about how we would create our own album artwork for our digipak design in relation to our chosen music video. Depending on the music genre i would pick, this type of design may not work with certain genres and would not attract the correct audience.

I personally found this task quite difficult and irritating, how you had to create new layers for each aspect of your face and t-shirt design and if you forgot to do this you would have to go back and change it, otherwise it would mess up the Opie. I think with enough practice i could achieve a better portrait than i have below. The main tools we used were the 'lasso tool' which we used to draw around the outlines of our face/hair/body/eyes etc then using the 'paint bucket' to fill in the colour appropriate. The ideas was to create ourselves in a cartoon-like image.
