Dear Moderator

Dear Moderator,
For my A2 coursework I have worked individually to construct a promotional package including a music video, magazine advertisement and digipack. I have chosen the song 'I Love It' by the swedish pop duo Icona Pop. To direct you around my blog efficiently I have placed tabs at the top of the page for each individual section which includes research, planning & construction, final products and evaluation, each of these pages will direct you to links of relevant posts.
I hope you enjoy my final products and can view my journey through these stages.

(Important message: When viewing my glogster posts which are mainly within research and planning, please use alternative browser than google chrome as it does not seem to work on their anymore. Works fine on internet explorer).

Album Front Cover Analysis (Taylor Swift - Love Story)

This is the album cover that accompanies the song - Love Story.

This image for the album cover relates to the ‘love story’ song, she is wearing the same costume as in the video. This retains a continuous theme in which she wants to follow and as this particular song is the single for her album she wants it to get as much recognition as possible. Posing looking towards the light, presumably it is the balcony she waits for her ‘Romeo’, suggesting that is why she is looking away from the camera, as she is waiting/looking for him to come. The soft cream/gold shade colours suggest innocence and purity, waiting for her ‘true love’ to come and rescue her. The gold colours represent the desirability of her, as gold is expensive. The font used is italic and fancy, it looks elegant and sophisticated and dated. This font could be a representation of Taylors character ‘Juliet’ herself, being this elegant young women.

Also the gold colours used both on her dress, above her name, and the font itself also suggests upper class and royal. The choice of costume is both elegant and revealing, her low cut dress shows of her body structure but in a more preserved way rather than exposing all her flesh. This particular album cover would attract a more female audience, many young girls idolise Taylor and aspire to be like her as she is a positive role model. She is promoting a positive image this particular photograph, compared to some other female artists within the pop genre she is not using sex to sell her album unlike Rihanna who can be seen to be frequently seen to be exposing her flesh and posing in a provocative nature in order to sell her music.

Her particular body language, as she looks over her shoulder away from the camera suggests a male gaze approach (Laura Mulvey), she is not aware she is being watched and admired by a male audience which could also come into voyeurism. Although Laura Mulveys theory also states that women are there for a male viewing pleasure and are seen as objects my males, i think this album cover challenges this part of the theory. Taylor is dressed elegantly, not looking at the audience so she is not providing the audience with any provocative facial expressions. She is not using her body to try and sell herself, she is relying on this 'star image' of her fans/audience recognising her from this photograph in relation to it being the same as the 'Love Story' music video and how the theme is retained.
